You’ve probably seen the Iron Man film series but, for one British inventor, the suit that Robert Downey Jnr wears in the film is now the stuff of reality.

Richard Browning has not only created an inspiring and eye-catching flying suit but has demonstrated that it can work effectively too. Richard claims he was motivated by his father, who was also an inventor and aeronautical engineer.

While creating the suit may have started out as a bit of fun, he can’t see it providing a viable form of personal transportation in the near future – our cars are safe for the time being.

That said, the suit, named Daedalus – after the father of Icarus, can fly at speeds of up to 200mph, altitudes of several thousand feet and enables the wearer to take off vertically.

Browning says he is fascinated by human flight and his flying suit reveals what dedication and innovation can achieve – a sentiment we echo at ALPHERA Financial Services!
